UNIVERSITY OF GRONINGEN TO START FIRST
DUTCH BRANCH CAMPUS IN CHINA
The University of Groningen will be the first Dutch university to open
a branch campus in China. In collaboration with China Agricultural
University, Beijing, the University plans to establish a presence on a
campus in the city of Yantai, Shandong province, from 2016

CALL FOR
PAPERS 'GOVERNANCE OF A CONTEMPORARY MULTILATERAL
INSTITUTIONAL ARCHITECTURE'
Globalisation Studies Groningen and Sustainable Society Groningen,
invites paper proposals for the U4 Cluster Conference Social Sciences,
Economics and Law (SSEL), hosted by the University of Groningen, on 4-6
November 2015. The conference aims to bring together researchers and
PhD students on topics specifically
addressing today's global challenges for societies.

U4 PARTNERS'
SUMMER SCHOOL OFFER
At each of the U4 partner universities again a broad range of
international summer schools
will be organized this year in a wide variety of academic fields,
ranging from Digital Analytics in marketing to EU Studies, and from
Transitional Justice to Electrical Energy and Multivariable Control. U4
PhD students are most welcome to attend. Several of these summer
schools have been promoted on the U4

VIth CALL FOR
APPLICATIONS
In the
framwork of the DAAD project there are funds available for BA/MA/PhD
students and researcher mobility in 2016. The deadline to
apply is September 1, 2015.

HASCO SUMMER
SCHOOL (19-24 JULY 2015)
The HASCO Summer School 2015 will take place at the
Georg-August-Universtät Göttingen from 19 to 24 July 2015. The main
focus of this Summer School "Hadron Collider" are introductory topics
in elementary particle physics, in particular in hadron collider
physics as relevant for research at the Large Hadron Collider.

IVth EDITION OF
THE U4 AGEING BRAIN SUMMER SCHOOL (UPPSALA, 23-29 AUGUST 2015)
The Graduate Summer School 'Ageing Brain' will hosted by Uppsala
University (Sweden) from August 23 till 29 August 2015.The Summer
School will focus on different topics concerning the ageing of the
brain and the consequences that arise in a constantly ageing society.
The programme is open to PhD and Master Students.

PROFESSIONAL
SUPERVISION OF INTERNATIONAL DOCTORAL CANDIDATES (GÖTTINGEN, 4-5
DECEMBER 2015)
On 4 and 5 December 2015 the Staff Training Course 'Professional
Supervision of International Doctoral Candidates' will take place in
Göttingen. All academics that are involved in the process of PhD
supervision are welcome to participate.

HIGHLIGHTS CLUSTER
MEETING SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
On 23 and 24 April 2015 the Cluster Meeting for Science and Technology
was held in Uppsala. In the presence of more than 40 participants of
all four partners a broad spectrum of research and education was
covered, as well as opportunities for funding through Horizon 2020 and
Erasmus+.

UPPSALA IS
SWEDEN'S STUDENT TOWN OF THE YEAR
The Swedish National Union of Students (SFS) has voted Uppsala to be
Student Town of the year 2015/2016. Uppsala has a prestigious
university which dares to renew its ways, and the city works hard to
accommodate all its students, according to SFS.

SUCCESSFUL VIth
WINTER SCHOOL ANTIQUITY
From March 3 till 8, 2015 the VIth U4 Winter School Antiquity
took
place in Rome. Young researchers were given the opportunity to present
and discuss their budding research within the framework of the theme:
'Landscape, Memory and Connectivity'.

WORKSHOP
'EXTRA-RETINAL INFLUENCES ON VISION'
From 18 till 19 March 2015 the first U4 Workshop 'Extra-retinal
influences
on vision: vistas, methods, and current controversies' took place in
Göttingen.Twelve internationally renowned experts in Neurophysiology,
Psychology, and Neuroscience discussed recent models pertaining to
brain mechanisms of visual perception. .
