Groningen Summer Schools 2019 2 smallThe 3rd Interdisciplinary Summer School in Gender Studies (Groningen, 24-28 August 2020) takes its point of departure in Donna Haraway’s Staying with the Trouble: Making Kin in the Chtulucene (2016) and Judith Butler’s Gender Trouble: Feminism and the Subversion of Identity (1990).

The areas teachers and students will work with during this summer school, are related to the key words disturbance and intervention inspired by these path-breaking scholars. We will end the summer school with joy and engagement in the writing process.



health migration 2020During the summer of 2020 the Ghent University Medical Students Association organizes two international summer courses covering the topics of 'Sexual & Reproductive Health & Rights' and 'Health & Migration'.

Both student-driven programmes are organized in close cooperation with dean Piet Hoebeke M.D., Ph.D. (Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences) and Olivier Degomme M.D., Ph.D. (scientific director of the International Centre for Reproductive Health).

Both programmes are open for students, post-graduates and PhD students from different nationalities and from different disciplinary backgrounds: Medicine and Health Sciences, Psychology, Law, Political and Social Sciences, and Linguistics and Philosophy.



ENLIGHT 2019 TartuNine universities – rectors, staff and student representatives from all over Europe have formally launched the 'ENLIGHT' consortium. ENLIGHT will promote quality of life, sustainability & global engagement through higher education transformation.

The rectors of the universities of Ghent (BE), Göttingen (DE), Tartu (EE), Basque Country (ES), Bordeaux (FR), Galway (IE), Groningen (NL), Uppsala (SE) and Comenius Bratislava (SK) have signed a Letter of Intent, in which the nine partner universities express their commitment to prepare a joint application in the framework of the second European Universities call.



PiA 201924 entertaining physics experiments will again be offered this year under the motto "24 more experiments until Christmas" in cooperation with several national and international physical societies and STEM initiatives. Many great prizes can be won.

"PiA - Physik im Advent" is an Advent calendar of a special kind: a physical Advent calendar. Behind every little door there is some education and fun. From 1st to 24th December, small physical experiments that can be carried out with standard household materials will be presented every day as videos by Mr. Santa or Ms. Santa. Participants do the experiments and answer a question on the PiA website. On the following day, there will be a solution video and, if the answer is correct, a point. At Christmas, all participants will receive individual certificates.

From 17 to 19 October 2019, leaders representing universities of Science and Technology have gathered in Paris to address the challenges of education, research and innovation in the 21st century. During the conference, the 32nd General Assembly of the CESAER has elected Rik Van de Walle, rector of Ghent University, as the new President.
