The U4Society Social Sciences, Economics and Law (SSEL) Conference on "Social Responsibility in Challenging Times" is organised from 6 to 8 November 2021 in Tartu in the premises of the University of Tartu. The conference aims to bring together researchers and PhD students from the participating U4Society Network universities (Ghent, Göttingen, Groningen, Uppsala and Tartu) and the universities from the ENLIGHT consortium (Basque Country, Bordeaux, Comenius Bratislava, Galway, Ghent, Göttingen, Groningen, Tartu, and Uppsala).
With some of Europe's leading social scientists as speakers, as well as contributions from a wide array of disciplines and practices, the SSEL conference will showcase advanced research and explore the uses of social sciences in the turbulent times.
The conference theme Social Responsibility in Challenging Times offers us an opportunity to discuss various aspects of politics, democracy, as well as education, migration, and well-being. Opening panel discussions on topics such as governance in the digital era, the welfare state, childhood vulnerability, gender, personality, productivity, residential segregation and the replication crisis, among others, the conference seeks to encourage the discussion on the role of social sciences.
Researchers and PhD students from the U4Society and ENLIGHT universities are welcome to submit posters to the SSEL 2021 Poster Session (Submission deadline: 1 April 2021). The poster session offers the presenters an opportunity to share their work through one-on-one discussions next to the poster.
