SUB Summer UGOE smallData managers and librarians meet at the Göttingen State and University Library of Lower Saxony to exchange experience on the development of research data services.

In order to learn from the experience of other institutions in establishing research data management infrastructures and to pass on its own knowledge in this area, the eResearch Alliance, a cooperation of the GWDG and the Göttingen State and University Library (SUB), is organising an internationally renowned symposium on the topic of 'The critical role of university Research Data Management infrastructure in transforming data to knowledge' from 18 to 20 March 2018 in Göttingen. The symposium is organised in cooperation with the Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA), an organization of the International Science Council.

braunschool-gentOn 29 and 30 August 2018 the 5th EU-China Environmental Law Conference on 'Green law, economic instruments and environmental crime' will take place at Ghent University, in cooperation with Wuhan University and the U4 partner universities.

The conference will focus on environmental law developments both in China and the EU, with regard to the greening of the law with economic instruments as well as the fight against environmental crime.

The call for abstracts is open with submission deadline on 15 April 2018.

Summer School Ageing Brain 2018The Department of Neurology of the University Medical Center in Göttingen will hold the U4 Summer School in Clinical and Translational Neuroscience from 27 to 31 August 2018.

Experience one intensive week of clinical neurology and translational neuroscience covering diverse neuroscientific topics from bench to bedside.
Who should apply? Students of the broad field of neuroscience, including medical students in their final two years of study and young neurologists in their first two years of training. Applicants should have either started or finished a research project and able to report about it.

The application deadline for the Summer School 2018 is 15 May 2018. The participation fee will be 250 EUR.

leadership-2018With a first session about 'Developing Academic Talent' Groningen launched the 3rd cycle of the U4 Academic Leadership programme from 7 till 9 February 2018.

The Academic Leadership programme is a training course for senior executives in university management of the four partner universities. The programme allows university leaders (both from academia and administration) to strengthen their skills in leadership and to learn more about university management in today's increasingly international, complex and competitive environment.

The programme spans a 2-year period, comprising four 3-days meetings. Each session deals with a main theme hosted by one of the four universities. The next seminar will take place at Ghent University from 30 May till 1 June 2018.

Physics UGOE smallThe HASCO Summer School 2018 will take place at the University of Göttingen from 22 to 27 July 2018.

The main objectives of the hadron collider physics school (HASCO) are introductory topics in elementary particle physics, in particular in hadron collider physics as relevant for research at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). This includes lectures and tutorials on theoretical foundations of the Standard Model of elementary particle physics as well as experimental techniques to test it. Furthermore, a focus is placed on statistical data analysis and an introduction to the software package ROOT. In addition, students will have the opportunity to discuss state of the art measurements and results with senior scientists in the field
