logo UGentOn 17 and 18 November Ghent University hosts the VIth U4 Rectors' Meeting. During the annual symposium the rectors decide upon the strategy and agenda of the coming U4 year. To this end the four academic clusters and the 5th cluster institional management present their work-in-progress and future actions.
Major achievements of the last year have been a.o. the approval and implementation of the U4 DAAD project, the closing of the first cycle of the Academic Leadership programme, the successful Winter School 'Antiquity' in Palermo, and the second blossoming Summer School 'Ageing Brain' in Ghent.

Within the margin of the rectors' meeting several clusters and working groups take the opportunity to meet and discuss further actions.

In view of the EU's new MFF, special attention is paid to new education and research opportunities for U4 within Erasmus+ and Horizon2020.

Just as before, this year's meeting welcomes a new U4 rector: Prof. dr Anne De Paepe started her mandate on October 1 at Ghent University. Well-known already are Prof. Dr. Ulrike Beisiegel (President University of Göttingen), Prof. Dr. Sibrand Poppema (President University of Groningen), and Eva Åkesson (Rektor Uppsala University)

Parallel to the Rectors' Meeting, Ghent University hosts the 3rd session of the programme 'Intercultural Perspectives in Teaching and Learning' and the international colloquium 'Positioning Academic Heritage. Challenges for Universities, museums and society in the 21st century' with U4 keynote speakers.
