New Cluster Chair for Social Sciences, Economics and Law
The U4 Network welcomes its new Cluster Chair for Social Sciences, Economics and Law, PD Dr. Sabine Grenz. Currently she is Acting Professor at the Göttingen Diversity Research Institute of the University of Göttingen
As one of the most prominent DAAD projects of the funding period 2013-2016 the U4 took the lead of the parallel session on one of the key issues of the conference: the implementation and governance of strategic partnerships.
From 18 till 21 May about 15 students from all U4 partners attended the 5th U4 Student Network meeting. The focus of the U4 Student Network is on sharing knowledge regarding several forms of student participation at the respective partner institutions.
Following workshops on "Creating multilingual spaces" (Göttingen) and "Multilingualism across the lifespan" (Ghent) and various bilateral visits of scholars within the network, this year saw the opening of a joint lecture series on Multilingualism at the Department of Intercultural German Studies at the University of Göttingen.
In the framework of the U4 Ageing Lung network participants from all U4 universities came together in Göttingen to discuss about and elaborate on current research topics and interests in obstructive lung disease in order to further extend the cooperation.
This year's U4 Winter School Antiquity took place in Istanbul and was organized by the colleagues from Uppsala University, at the Swedish, Dutch and German research institutes in Istanbul. The central theme of the winter school was ‘Transitions, Transmissions, and Transformations'.
This conference focuses on the internationalization of the curricula – the integration of an international and intercultural dimension as well as a global perspective into the content of the curriculum and the learning and teaching processes.
The 2016 edition of the Ageing Brain Summer School is funded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) Health. The Summer School focuses on the early hallmarks and diagnosis of normal and abnormal brain ageing, the development of novel treatments for neurodegenerative diseases, and novel strategies for clinical treatment.
The 2016 Groningen Energy Summer School for PhD students takes an interdisciplinary approach to the societal and technological dimensions of energy transition. The event will offer a unique opportunity to PhD students to become aware of different aspects of energy transition, to develop novel insights, and to create synergy in approaches to energy transition.
On 3-4 February 2016 the University of Göttingen hosted a series of workshops about research data management and institutional repositories. Research data take on greater significance in today's scholarly communication, which is in part attributable to the growing fraction and amounts of digital data, new digital tools, and the requirements on replicability of scientific results.
'Ph.D. Position at Uppsala University and the University of Göttingen (double Ph.D. degree)
There is an opening for a Ph.D. student position belonging to the ATLAS groups of Arnaud Ferrari (Uppsala University) and Stan Lai (University of Göttingen) with an anticipated start date of 01 September 2016.
