Students Meeting in Groningen
From 18 till 21 May about 15 students from all U4 partners attended the 5th U4 Student Network meeting. The focus of the U4 Student Network is on sharing knowledge regarding several forms of student participation at the respective partner institutions.

U4 Guest Lecturer Programme 'Multilingualism'
Following workshops on "Creating multilingual spaces" (Göttingen) and "Multilingualism across the lifespan" (Ghent) and various bilateral visits of scholars within the network, this year saw the opening of a joint lecture series on Multilingualism at the Department of Intercultural German Studies at the University of Göttingen.

Workshop 'Ageing Lung'
In the framework of the U4 Ageing Lung network participants from all U4 universities came together in Göttingen to discuss about and elaborate on current research topics and interests in obstructive lung disease in order to further extend the cooperation.

Istanbul, 8-12 March 2016
Winter School Antiquity VII
This year's U4 Winter School Antiquity took place in Istanbul and was organized by the colleagues from Uppsala University, at the Swedish, Dutch and German research institutes in Istanbul. The central theme of the winter school was ‘Transitions, Transmissions, and Transformations'.

EIT Ageing Brain Summer School
The 2016 edition of the Ageing Brain Summer School is funded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) Health. The Summer School focuses on the early hallmarks and diagnosis of normal and abnormal brain ageing, the development of novel treatments for neurodegenerative diseases, and novel strategies for clinical treatment.

On 3-4 February 2016 the University of Göttingen hosted a series of workshops about research data management and institutional repositories. Research data take on greater significance in today's scholarly communication, which is in part attributable to the growing fraction and amounts of digital data, new digital tools, and the requirements on replicability of scientific results.
