On a rainy and windy September day in Uppsala, 21 U4 students gathered for an afternoon-tea organized by the International Office. The overall aim was to raise awareness and knowledge about the different U4 universities and the U4 network.

In this 7th edition of the international summer school, 40 undergraduate students from 18 different institutes in twelve countries came together for a full week to learn about hadron collider physics.

Vice-Chancellor Eva Åkesson has received King's Medal
Uppsala University's Vice-Chancellor Eva Åkesson has received the H.M. The King's Medal of the 12th size with the ribbon of the Order of the Seraphim for "exemplary work in Swedish higher education". Futhermore, Professor Svedjedal at Uppsala University's Department of Literature has received the H.M. The King's Medal of the 8th size, with the ribbon of the Order of the Seraphim.

A Göttingen staff visit to Uppsala
The Göttingen group consisted of colleagues o the Presidential Office and the Göttingen Campus Office. Therefore, they chose to spend a week in the Vice-Chancellor's Office of Uppsala University to get to know the colleagues within the U4 Network and exchange ideas and experiences about daily operations.

The graduate student of the University of Göttingen Arnab Dutta receives Arenberg Coimbra Group Award
The graduate student Arnab Dutta of the University of Göttingen received the Arenberg Coimbra Group Award for Erasmus students. Every year, the award of 5.000 Euro is given to graduates of a University of the Coimbra group who went abroad to one of the Coimbra Universities in the frame of the Erasmus Program.

Workshop 'EU foreign policy and the response from East Asia'
In the framework of the U4 Taiwan Studies network the workshop was centered around four main topics: (1) political developments and EU-East Asia Relations, (2) governing economic relations between the EU and East Asia, (3) normative power Europe and East Asia, and (4) the EU and China: policies and normative stance.

Göttingen, 19-20 April 2018
Visit of the Faculty Office 'Humanities and Social Sciences'
In late April, the Faculty Office for Humanities and Social Sciences, Uppsala University, visited Göttingen. The aim of the visit, which was initiated by Uppsala but generously planned and arranged by the Göttingen hosts, was to contribute to the Uppsala office's continuous work for enhanced internationalization and quality.
