The University of Groningen has initiated the prestigious Rosalind Franklin Fellowship programme to promote the advancement of talented international researchers at the highest levels of the institution.
New Guest Professor Programme at Uppsala University
In October 2016, Uppsala University's Vice-Chancellor Eva Åkesson officially decided to start the Uppsala University Guest Professor Programme. The programme has an initial funding of a little more than € 1 million (SEK 10 million) that will be used to increase the number of Guest Professors at Uppsala University.
The U4 Staff Training Seminar on Graduate Schools took place in Göttingen from the 6th to 8th November 2016. Its aim was to deepen the mutual understanding of institutional settings, practices, and traditions as well as concepts of supervision and training. Graduate schools are located at an interface between young researchers and international offices.
On 11 and 12 November the University of Groningen hosted the IXth U4 Rectors' Conference. The annual Rectors' Conference forms the setting for the yearly evaluation and planning of the U4 strategic partnership.
On Tuesday 13 December Uppsala University invited the Nobel Prize laureates in Chemistry, Economics and Physics for open lectures across the Uppsala campuses. Links to the recorded webcasts are available.
'Exhibiting science or scientists?' by Marika Hedin
As part of the 'Exhibition on/off. The Nobel Prize and the Boundaries of Science!' (11 December 2016 to 28 May 2017) at the University of Göttingen, Marika Hedin (Director of Gustavianum, Uppsala University Museum) gave a speech on 'Exhibiting science or scientists? International Summer School 'Globalization and Diversity'
The international Summer School 'Globalization and Diversity' is organized by the Goettingen Diversity Research Institute in cooperation with partner universities in Europe, the United States and Japan. The summer school will provide students with an overview over current debates on social diversity on a global and local scale.
The AMR summer school offers medical students and life science & technology students to learn all major aspect of AMR from top experts. An innovative aspect of the summer school is the bedside hands-on teaching/practical of representative patient cases in the ‘skills lab’, with patients played by professional actors.
