Innovative in Internationalisation - University of Göttingen receives European Award
The University of Göttingen has received the "Institutional Award for Innovation in Internationalisation 2015" from the EAIE (European Association for International Education). The award was presented this week at the EAIE Annual Conference in Glasgow. This European prize rewards higher education institutions who have an outstanding internationalisation strategy and are forging innovative pathways in internationalisation.

U4 IN EAIE SUMMER FORUM MAGAZINE
The U4 network features in the EAIE Summer Forum magazine 2015. The central topic of the 2015 edition is strategic partnerships and tries to provide answers on how institutions can make the most of their partnerships, how to create and manage them, and what impact they have on student learning.

U4 MOBILITY IN THE PICTURE: INTERNSHIP JUANA GRAETER @ UPPSALA INTERNATIONAL OFFICE
Juana studies Development Economics at the University of Göttingen. Funded by the U4 DAAD project she completes a 5 week internship at Uppsala University and workes consecutively at the International Office, the Vice-Chancellor's Office and the Division of Communication.

WORKSHOP 'ETHICAL ASPECTS OF COLLECTING AND EXHIBITING MUSEUM OBJECTS OF HUMAN ORIGIN' (GHENT, 22-23 OCTOBER 2015)
On occasion of the Ghent exhibition on dealing with the dead body in art and science the U4 Collections and Museums network organises a two-day workshop in Ghent on 22 and 23 October to focus on how the different U4 partners cope with objects of human origin. Do they have an ethical code that provides guidance in confronting such issues?

INTERDISCIPLINARY SUMMER SCHOOL GENDER STUDIES (GOETTINGEN, 15-20 AUGUST 2016)
The first interdisciplinary U4 Summer School in Gender Studies for MA and PhD students will take place in Goettingen from 15 till 20 August 2016. Students and scholars are invited to interact on contemporary gender studies in Europe during an intensive six days programme.

ML4U CONFERENCE (GHENT, 25-26 SEPTEMBER 2015
The Ghent research group LANG+ 'Language in Society and Multiulingualism' hosts the ML4U workshop 'Multilingualism across the Lifespan: Contact, Mobility and Learning' on 25 & 26 September 2015. As a result of the massive response on the call for papers the workshop was turned into a two-day event. The workshop programme is available for download.

CLUSTER CONFERENCE 'GOVERNANCE OF A CONTEMPORARY MULTILATERAL INSTITUTIONAL ARCHITECTURE' (GRONINGEN, 4-6 NOVEMBER 2015)
This year's U4 cluster conference Social Sciences, Economics and Law is hosted by the Groningen Institute for Globalisation Studies (GSG) and the Institute for Sustainable Society. The call for papers was succesful. Registration was closed on the 1 September. In anticipation of the full programme the conference panels have been announced online.

WORKSHOP 'CHANGING MEANINGS OF EUROPE' (GOETTINGEN, 12-14 NOVEMBER 2015)
The workshop aims to bring together scholars whose work analyzes transnational cultural, intellectual and political mechanisms that promote inclusion and exclusion on the local, national, and European level. The CMIECE network (Goettingen, Groningen, Uppsala) seeks additional partners for exchanging ideas and developing news research projects.

IVth AGEING BRAIN SUMMER SCHOOL
17 students attended the 4th edition of the U4 Summer School 'Ageing Brain' hosted by Uppsala from 23 till 29 August. The programme focused on both clinical and research aspects of neurodegenerative disorders, such as dementia. Students were introduced to cutting edge research on new therapeutic and imaging strategies.

GRONINGEN ENERGY SUMMER SCHOOL
26 PhD students attended the Groningen Energy Summer School (17-28 August 2015). The broad range of disciplines offered students a unique opportunity to become aware of different aspects of the energy transition, develop novel insights and create synergy between approaches to smart grids.

U4 STUDENTS NETWORK MEETING
From 20 till 22 May 2015 ca. 20 students from all U4 universities took part in the annual U4 Students Network Meeting hosted by Uppsala. The focus of the meeting was to reflect on the themes of quality systems in education and student participation. As part of the programme in site visits were organised to the Uppsala Student Nations.
